Jubilee Platinum names Tjate project manager 28th November 2007

Mike Marsden has been appointed project manager at Jubilee Platinum's Tjate project, it has been confirmed.

The former-Anglo American executive will be charged along with Mineral Corporation with carrying out a bankable feasibility study at the project.

The study is expected to complete by the end of next year, Andrew Sarosi, Technical Director at Jubilee Platinum told Mining Weekly, after which point the firm will look to raise further capital for the project.

News of Jubilee Platinum's plans follow a successful fundraising programme in which capital of R150 million was raised to fund the study through the sale of 13 million shares.

A scoping study indicated that it was viable to build a mine at the site at a cost of R3 billion provided it yielded 200,000 tons of ore a month at a grade of 5g per ton of platinum group metals and nickel and copper by-products.

The Tjate project comprises three contiguous farms: Dsjate, Fernkloof, and Quartz Hill in the eastern Bushveld.
