JIC’s jewelry preview showcases pearls, platinum (25/08/11)

Kwiat's platinum and diamond earrings were among the most spectacular pieces on show as the Jewelry Information Center held a fine jewellery preview.

Pieces from a range of designers were presented by the American Gem Trade Association, Cultured Pearl Association of America, Platinum Guild International and World Gold Council.

Bachelor Pad contestant Blake Julian proposed to Holly Durst with a vintage-style Neil Lane platinum and diamond ring.

The engagement ring is set with a cushion-cut diamond and feautres 162 round diamonds, totalling three carats.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Co-Stars Premiere ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ (13/09/11)

Olivia Munn, Greg Kinnear, Sarah Jessica Parker and Christina Hendricks added some Hollywood glamour to New York City when they attended the premiere of I Don't Know How She Does It, which was sponsored by Palladium Jewelry and QVC.

Hendricks, star of the hit show Mad Men and spokesperson for Dame Vivienne Westwood's new palladium jewellery collection, wore a palladium bracelet to the event.

Platinum Jewelry Dominates The Red Carpet at The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards (18/09/11)

A number of Hollywood's leading television actresses chose platinum jewellery for the 63rd Emmy Awards.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore platinum earrings with black and white diamonds, two platinum and diamond bracelets and a platinum ring with diamonds and black onyx by Neil Lane. Julie Bowen also chose the LA designer for her platinum earrings, bracelet and rings.

Drew Barrymore dazzled in platinum and diamond earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels, while Minka Kelly opted for platinum and diamond drop earrings, and platinum rings by Tiffany & Co.

Gretchen Mol, Nina Dobrev, Jayma Mays, Cat Deely, Colbie Smulders, Kaley Cuoco, Amber Riley, Mireille Enos, Maria Bello, Taraji P. Henson, Ellie Kemper and Giuliana Rancic also chose platinum jewellery by the likes of Neil Lane, Chopard, Fred Leighton, Bulgari and Kwiat.

Meanwhile, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley sparkled in platinum and diamond flower earrings earrings by Chopard at the Moet & Chandon Etoile Award Gala Honoring Mario Testino in London.

Large drop earrings light up Emmys red carpet (20/09/11)

The Emmy's not only showcased platinum jewellery, but also a range of large drop earrings.

"Big earrings were the call of the evening," said jewellery expert Michael O’Connor.

Examples included Julie Bowen's choice of Neil Lane pear-shaped black and white diamond and platinum earrings.

Helena Krodel from the Jewelry Information Center said: "Tear-drop shaped earrings were big because people tend to wear fabulous, but not over-the-top, dresses to the awards."



Illusionist Criss Angel and new fiancee Sandra Gonzalez have been showing off her platinum engagement ring after the couple decided to wed.

The ring features a five-carat princess cut diamond on a platinum band that Angel designed with New York jeweller Idayne Kaye.

Over 1,000 couples ran around the streets of Buffalo, New York, in lime green shirts to get their hands on a $15,000 platinum engagement ring.

The Buffalo Amazing Ring Race offered couples the chance to win a limited edition art carved diamond engagement ring in platinum.

Stars don palladium for New York Fashion Week (22/09/11)

The Palladium Alliance International has been working hard to promote the metal for jewellery pieces.

Palladium featured heavily at the recent Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, with the metal incorporated into the Ruffian runway show, Gen Art Fresh Faces and the New York premiere of I Don't Know How She Does It.

Ruffian's partnership with PAI meant palladium jewellery from the likes of Simon G, Alishan, Andrew Meyer and Unique Setting of New York were prominent on the catwalks.

Ernest Jones Launches Amanda Wakeley Bridal Collection (26/09/11)

Amanda Wakeley has launched a new platinum jewellery collection at Ernest Jones.

It consists of 12 wedding and engagement rings each made from platinum, for both men and women.

Ten of the pieces feature half, quarter and third carat diamonds which are either brilliant cut or baguette cut.

The bridal collection includes solitaire styles, channel set diamonds and plain platinum bands.

Marilyn's ring from Joltin' Joe to be auctioned (04/10/11)

The platinum wedding band belonging to Marilyn Monroe from her marriage to Joe DiMaggio is to be sold as part of the Icons of Hollywood auction in Calabasas Hills, California on December 15th.

Estimated at between $300,000 and $500,000, the ring is a platinum eternity band set with 35 baguette-cut diamonds, with one missing.
