Platinum jewellery has gained momentum in the past few years around the globe and especially in India, a key market for jewellery.
The number of outlets selling platinum jewellery increased from 12 in 2000/01 to over 300 in the present day, according to Platinum Guild International (India).
India's appetite for jewellery and its potential as a centre for platinum jewellery can be shown by the fact it is already the world's largest consumer of gold.
Meanwhile, 2011 is forecast to see a five per cent rise in jewellery and gem exports.
