Iridium offered for sale by US DLA 10th January 2006
An unspecified amount of iridium has been offered by the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
According to Platts, the DLA has offered up some of its stockpile of iridium for sale and will be receiving bids until 18:30 GMT on January 12th 2006.
The DLA will be selling the iridium from its Defense National Stockpile Center, which states that the iridium will be available from its Somerville, New Jersey depot.
This latest announcement comes following the sale in November of 1,000 troy ounces of iridium to two New York based companies, in deals worth a combined total of $183,000.
The DLA is an agency to the US department of defense which provides logistical support across the world to the US armed forces as well as foreign governments in the procurement of munitions in both times of war and peace.
