Impala Platinum orders mine winders 15th August 2007

The world's second largest platinum producer, Impala Platinum, has awarded a $17 million contract to ABB for the delivery of electrical equipment to four mine winders.

The power and automation technology organisation will supply electrical equipment for the mine winders, to be situated in the North West province of South Africa.

Under the terms of the agreement, ABB will supply a variety of equipment including the installation and commissioning of control systems, transformers and Advant Hoist Monitor Systems, Mining Weekly reports.

This is the latest move by Impala Platinum in its continued expansion and development plans. The company has also begun sinking two new shafts, while a third is currently in the design stage, as Impala looks to continue its growth.
