Hyundai takes up fuel cell challenge 5th October 2006

Car manufacturer Hyundai has announced that it is to once again enter the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP) Road Rally.

The company will be using its Tucson fuel cell vehicle for the second year and it is hoping that the tour can boost public awareness of fuel cell vehicles and their potential as a replacement for the traditional combustion engine.

Hyundai believes that its latest model has improved on last year's efforts by offering a higher output fuel cell.

However, the automaker believes its major breakthrough to be the ability for the car to start in freezing temperatures. This has always been a problem for the automotive fuel cell sector, as an inability to start the vehicles in freezing temperatures has meant they can be unreliable.
