American Security Resources Corporation subsidiary Hydra Fuel Cell Corporation has received a purchase order for 500 HydraStax fuel cells, it has been announced.

The order was received from Personalized Power Systems, a Boca Raton-based residential generator dealer.

According to Jim Twedt, President and CEO of Hydra, the company now has a backlog of over $11,000,000, and he believes this highlights the viability of fuel cells as an alternative power source.

"This order is further evidence of the significance fuel cells will have in freeing America from hydrocarbon dependence in electric generation," he commented.

Further explaining the origins of the order, Mr Twedt said: "[It] was generated by our distributor, Ken Detko of Conexa Products, who has been working with Personalized Power Systems since the Florida beta installation. Conexa will enter into an agreement for Personalized to be the master dealer/installer for Conexa's other dealers that have been appointed in Florida."

Personalized has sold and installed in excess of 2,000 power systems since 1998, with the bulk of this commercial activity being recorded since June 2004.
