Hy9 Corporation receives $2.3 million investment 28th June 2006

A leading manufacturer of metal membrane hydrogen purifiers, Hy9 Corporation, has announced that it has received $2.3 million in funding.

The company stated that the funding would enable it to expand its range of hydrogen purifiers into the ultra-high purity (UHP), high purity and fuel cell markets, and into reformers for the portable fuel cell market.

Hy9 Corporation uses a planar palladium alloy metal membrane in its membrane purifiers, which separates hydrogen from hydrogen containing gas mixtures using permeation.

The corporation claims that its method for producing thin palladium alloy membranes improves the hydrogen productivity per unit of the pgm, palladium, contained in the membranes by at least 50 times.

Exploiting this method is important for widespread commercialisation of economical purifiers and membrane reactors, the company said.

"With our recent round of financing, Hy9 is well-positioned to leverage our proprietary technologies and global commercial success to provide compelling economic hydrogen purification and reforming solutions for the industrial, specialty gas and energy markets," said CEO Jeffrey Altman.
