GreenShift agreement to boost fuel cell development 24th November 2005
GreenShift has announced a new agreement designed to increase fuel cell efficiency, through a $500,000 investment in Aerogel Composite (ACI).
ACI is a development stage materials science company which develops nanotechnology for the preparation of aerogel composites which can be used in hydrogen fuel cells to be used in a range of items, from cars to portable devices such as laptops.
Commenting on the deal Hiro Hara, president, chief executive and founder of ACI, said: "We have many years of development into our technology and we are very much looking forward to bringing the many applications of our technology to market. We expect that GreenShift's investment will accelerate this process and we are pleased to have their support."
Explaining GreenShift's decision to enter into the deal, president and chief executive Kevin Kreisler commented: "We see Mr Hara's technology as another remarkable example of leveraging an incremental improvement in efficiency into dramatic environmental gains."
The development is another example of the increasing drive for the creation of efficient and viable fuel cell products.
Another example of this is the announcement by Acta that it has managed to more than double the power output from its catalyst for direct alcohol fuel cells.
According to Fuel Cell Today, the improvement could mean that fuel cells powered by ethanol can match or even outperform the power of the top methanol fuel cells.
