The forthcoming Paris Motor Show is set to showcase a series of the latest environmental vehicle innovations.

The Citroen stand will feature the stylish C-Metisse concept car, which is capable of 155 miles per hour yet up to 45 miles to the gallon, proving that "a high performance car can also be green", according to its developers.

With an economical diesel engine and two electric motors, as well as a particulate filter system to reduce harmful emissions, the C-Metisse also boasts a 'zero emissions vehicle' mode for city driving.

Peugeot, meanwhile, has developed a 207 known as the Epure, an emission-free hybrid that combines an electric motor with fuel cell technology. The combination of both systems means that the vehicle has a range of 218 miles.

Even internal combustion vehicles on display in Paris feature environmentally-friendly elements, such as Renault's V6 gull-wing concept Nepta, which purportedly "combines an outstanding drive with a significant reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions".

The show runs from September 30th to October 15th.
