Fuel cell research receives a boost with DTI grant 27th April 2004
The Department for Trade and Industry has unveiled detail of a £3.2 million funding initiative designed to boost fuel cell technology.
Johnson Matthey will be the beneficiary of the grant, using the revenue to help fund research into fuel cells.
At the Renewable Investment Summit in London, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to research looking into cleaner energy sources.
Energy minister Steven Timms said: "This is yet another example of the wealth of opportunity for investment in the renewables industry."
He also expressed hopes that the grant will put the UK ahead in the future competitive fuel cell industry.
The project carried out by Johnson Matthey will last for approximately 36 months and will aim to make progress on prototype fuel cell cars.
