Fuel cell-powered buggy launched 16th September 2005
A fuel cell-powered buggy is due to undergo testing at Canada-based Reg Technologies.
Anuvu will be supplying the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV), which has an on-board power generator and produces zero emissions.
NEVs, an environmentally sound transport option, are typically used on golf courses, in hospitals and at airport terminals.
The addition of a fuel cell to the battery-powered system should allow the NEV to travel for between 100 and 150 miles before being recharged in comparison to the current models' travel distance of 25 to 50 miles.
To make refuelling easier, the fuel cell will be hydrogen fuelled from a compressed tank that will charge on-board. Presently, battery operated NEVs require several hours to charge.
As fuel cell technology progresses and NEVs become more reliable and easier to run, it is expected that many more companies will adopt the vehicles.
