Canadian company wants to do drilling near Stillwater Mine (21/05/10)
Nevoro is attempting to receive clearance to commence exploratory drilling at up to ten sites near the Stillwater Mine in the US.
The Canadian firm is hoping to secure the area T4S, R13E, Section 34 east of Chrome Mountain; T5S, R13E, Sections 1 and 2 west of Pickett Pin lakes; T5S, R14E, Sections 7 and 8 along Horseshoe Flats; and sections 20 and 21 PMM near Verdigris and Mountain View creeks.
According to the Billings Gazette, the work could commence as early as next month.
Pan African raises Phoenix project resource estimate to 469 000 oz (28/05/10)
Pan African Resources has revealed that the reserve at its Phoenix platinum project has been increased significantly.
The company announced that a rise of 15.8 per cent to 469,000 oz pgm 4E (platinum, palladium, rhodium and gold) has been witnessed at the South African site.
In addition, the greater reserves should see the life of the project extended from 13 years to 16 years, assuming a 50 per cent recovery and a production rate of 15,000 oz pgm 4E per year.
"The drilling programme underpins the high quality of the asset and will further enhance the operating margin of the project and increase the value to Pan African's bottom line," said Chief Executive Jan Nelson.
Colossus Minerals Commences Exploration on New Ground in the Serra Pelada Gold-Platinum-Palladium Project, Brazil (02/06/10)
Colossus Minerals has commenced a new exploration project at the Serra Pelada site in Brazil, with the first phase involving about 5,000m of diamond drilling.
The firm will test for extensions of gold-platinum mineralisation delineated in the Central Mineralised Zone, while also taking detailed gold-platinum-palladium soil-geochemical and ground-radiometrics surveys.
Geological mapping is set to focus on clarifying the structural-lithological setting prospective for gold-platinum-palladium mineralisation.
"We are excited by the apparent prospects of the new ground in the Serra Pelada Project and look forward to realising the full potential of this remarkable mineralised system," commented Dr Vic Wall, the company's Vice President of Exploration.
Noront announces high grade assay results at Eagle's Nest, James Bay Lowlands (03/06/10)
Noront Resources has announced initial assay results from the Eagle's Nest deposit at its McFaulds Lake Project in James Bay Lowlands in Ontario, Canada.
Hole NOT-10-081 intersected 157m averaging 2.6 per cent nickel, 1.6 per cent copper, 1.7g/t platinum and 4.2g/t palladium.
This included 19m averaging 6.6 per cent nickel, 2.7 per cent copper, 0.8g/t platinum, 7.3g/t palladium and 1.1g/t gold; 4.3m averaging 0.2 per cent nickel, 0.4 per cent copper, 10.5g/t platinum and 2.3g/t palladium; and 5.5m averaging 7.8 per cent nickel, two per cent copper, 0.2g/t platinum and 7.9g/t palladium.
NOT-10-076 intersected 97.5m averaging 1.9 per cent nickel, one per cent copper, 0.8g/t platinum and 3g/t palladium, including 3.6m averaging 5.1 per cent nickel, 1.5 per cent copper, 0.5g/t platinum and 6.6 g/t palladium.
And finally, NOT-10-076-W1 intersected 43.5m averaging 3.2 per cent nickel, 1.2 per cent copper, 0.5g/t platinum and 4.2/pt palladium, including 13.1m averaging seven per cent nickel, 2.2 per cent copper, 0.3g/t platinum and 8.5g/t palladium.
"These additional results are very encouraging as they continue to confirm the presence of high-grade mineralisation as predicted by our geological and structural models," said President and Chief Executive Wes Hanson.
North American Palladium Provides LDI Exploration Update (07/06/10)
North American Palladium has provided an update on the drilling programme at its flagship Lac des Iles palladium mine in Ontario.
The company revealed that the current mine (Roby Zone) extended about 100m north and at depth, while the Offset Zone extended higher towards the surface and continued to show strong results.
"These results support our organic growth strategy, suggesting that we will be able to extend mining in the Roby Zone beyond two years and that the Offset Zone will provide at least an additional ten years of mining at an annualised production rate in the range of 250,000 oz per year," said President and Chief Executive William Biggar.
Eurasia Mining eyes quick investment returns at West Kytlim alluvial platinum project (07/06/10)
Eurasia Mining is positive that it can quickly make back its investments at the West Kytlim alluvial platinum project.
The firm is currently awaiting a production license at the facility, where exploration work has been undertaken over the past few years.
Drilling is also planned at Eurasia's Volchetundra and Monchetundra pgm projects in the Kola peninsula in Russia.
Eurasia Mining updates on West Kytlim platinum project (16/06/10)
Although no formal resource estimates have been produced at West Kytlim, Eurasia has described securing the license as essential to "encourage continued assessment" of the area.
