Starfield Resources Inc. To Acquire Nevoro Inc. (24/06/09)
Starfield Resources has reached an agreement which will see it acquire all the issued and outstanding securities of Nevoro Inc, it has been confirmed.
"This combination is an excellent strategic fit," commented Andre Douchane, President and CEO of Starfield.
"Starfield's large copper-nickel-cobalt-pge resource at Ferguson Lake complements Nevoro's properties at Stillwater and our environmentally-friendly and highly-efficient solvent extraction technology should be applicable to Nevoro's Ni-Cu-Co deposits."
North American Palladium Discovers New PGM Zone at Lac des Iles Mine (25/06/09)
North American Palladium has revealed that it has discovered a new underground pgm zone at its Lac des Iles mine in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
President and CEO William Biggar explained that the deposit - which was found during drilling of the Offset Zone - could serve to extend the life of the mine.
He said: "We are very excited with the discovery of the Cowboy Zone less than 50 metres away from the Offset Zone, as it confirms our belief that the underexplored LDI minesite and 21,000-acre property have considerable upside potential."
Mitsubishi pulls out of planned stake in Caledonia Mining's South Africa's platinum projects (01/07/09)
Caledonia Mining Corporation has confirmed that Mitsubishi has withdrawn from the Rooipoort and Mapochsgronde platinum exploration projects in South Africa.
According to reports, Mitsubishi pulled out over concerns about the possession of prospect rights in light of black economic empowerment regulations in the country.
UPDATE 1-CAMEC upbeat on Bokai resource estimate, shares up (09/07/09)
The platinum prospect at the Bokai site in Zimbabwe has been found to contain a significant pgm resource, according to a new report by Reuters.
Central African Mining and Exploration Company announced that it offers 10.69 million ounces pgm 4E (platinum, palladium, rhodium and gold) and sizeable base metals credits.
"These results confirm a significant resource at Bokai and demonstrate the considerable potential for economic recovery of this platinum resource," Chief Executive Andrew Groves told the news provider.
"We expect to bring Bokai into production by 2012, with construction on the mine likely to begin this year."
Platinum Australia up on Kalahari upgrade (13/07/09)
Platinum Australia has announced resource updates for two of the seven deposits at its Kalahari project in South Africa.
Measured, inferred and indicated resource estimates for the Orion deposit are up by 13 per cent to 2.72 million tonnes at 3.33g/t 3E (platinum, palladium and gold) containing 291,000 oz.
Meanwhile, there was an eight per cent rise at the Crux deposit to 5.2 million tonnes at 2.59g/t 3E (platinum, palladium and gold) containing 436,100 oz.
Palladium and Platinum Results in Nickel-Iron Alloy in First Point's Joe Property, Oregon (13/07/09)
First Point Minerals Corporation revealed recently that palladium and platinum samples which could significantly add to nickel concentrates were located at its Joe property in Oregon.
The firm analysed nickel-iron alloy nuggets from streams in the surrounding area and found that two samples contained up to 5.3g/t palladium with an average of 3.9g/t, plus 0.35g/t platinum with an average of 0.27g/t.
QUARTERLY REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 30 JUNE 2009 (20/07/09)
Finally, Magma Metals has posted results of a 33,500m resource definition drilling campaign conducted during the March quarter at its Thunder Bay site.
The TBND193 intersection offered 63.8m at 5.66g/t platinum and palladium, including 18m at 11.47g/t platinum and palladium.
Meanwhile, the company noted that its BL09-89 intersection contained 5.98m at 17.13g/t platinum and palladium, including 0.81m at 42.6g/t platinum and palladium.
The programme, which focuses on a 3.4km strike length of the Current Lake Intrusive Complex, is now being extended to investigate the Beaver Lake and Steepledge Lake Intrusive Complex areas.
