Pacific North West Capital Clarifies Significant Rhodium Concentrations on its River Valley Palladium, Platinum and Gold Project , Sudbury, Ontario, Up To 0.17 gpt over 23 meters (0.005 opt, 75.4 ft) (04/08/11)
Pacific North West Capital Corp announced significant concentrations of rhodium in the first 11 holes of its drill programme in the Dana North area of its River Valley Platinum Group Metals Project in Ontario.
The results of the exploration drilling show 0.17 g/t rhodium over 23 metres in hole DN011, which includes eight grams-per-ton of platinum, palladium and gold over 11m, equivalent to 0.23 oz/t.
In a statement, the firm said the programme indicates "that the mineralisation has excellent continuity along strike and to depth".
Joint Review Panel Established for the Proposed Marathon Platinum Group Metals and Copper Mine Project in Ontario (09/08/11)
Canada's environment minister Peter Kent and Ontario's minister of the environment John Wilkinson announced a three-member joint review panel for the environmental assessment of the proposed Marathon Platinum Group Metals and Copper Mine Project in Ontario.
The panel will consider whether the Stillwater Canada project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and if it should proceed.
GSI finds platinum deposits in Orissa (12/08/11)
Platinum group elements (pge) have been discovered in the Indian state of Orissa.
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) made the find in the region's Baula-Nuasahi ultramafic complex and estimates resources at around 14.2 million tonnes.
GSI director general A. Sundaramoorthy said there were "encouraging signs" for pge mining in the state and a feasibility study with the Orissa Mining Corporation is commencing.
North American Nickel Initiates Exploration on its Bell Lake Offset Dyke Property, Southwest Sudbury Basin (22/08/11)
North American Nickel Inc has commenced exploration on the Bell Lake quartz diorite offset dyke, which contains extensive quantities of platinum, palladium, gold, copper and nickel.
Bell Lake is a 256-acre property covering one kilometre of the Worthington Offset Dyke, where exploration drilling has previously indicated nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum-palladium mineralisation.
North American Nickel president and chief operating officer Mark Fedikow said: "The fact that the dyke is exposed at surface and is extensively mineralised with disseminated and near-solid sulphide mineralisation carrying significant nickel, copper and total precious metal values provides us with an immediate advantage to assess the economic feasibility of this property."
Largo Announces High Grade Drill Results from Its Maracas Project in Bahia, Brazil (22/08/11)
Largo Resources Ltd announced the results from the first five drill holes of the company's 11,000-metre diamond drill programme at its Maracas Vanadium-PGM property in Brazil.
The firm said "encouraging" platinum group metal (pgm) values were discovered to the north and west along Gulcari A trend.
Largo also indicated that the present drill programme has been designed to further evaluate the pgm potential of the deposit.
Andy Campbell, vice-president of exploration of the company, commented: "We are very pleased with the results of the drill programme that continue to confirm our high grade vanadium values at depth as well as to define new zones both eastward and westward from the immediate vicinity of the Gulcari A pit."
He continued: "Hole FGA101, a 200-metre step out hole to the north of Gulcari A demonstrates the continuation of the mineralisation and also includes significant pgm content."
Rockland Minerals Corp.: Retty Lake Cu-Ni-PGM Core Sampling Completed, Quebec (23/08/11)
Rockland Minerals Corp said core samples from the 1,500-metre Retty Lake copper-nickel-platinum group elements drilling programme have been submitted to a commercial laboratory for precious metals fire assay and multi-element geochemical analysis.
The precious metals fire assay procedure to be used for palladium and platinum will be a more robust one assay-ton "to insure the most reliable and repeatable results", the firm explained.
George Sanders, a director of the company, said: "We all share the anticipation of the Retty Lake drilling results."
Diamond Discoveries Starts Summer/Fall Exploration Program on its Caribou Property, Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada (24/08/11)
Diamond Discoveries International Corp has resumed its exploration programme begun in 2008 that revealed high chromium values at its Caribou Property in Thetford Mines, Quebec.
The US company, which focuses on chromium, platinum group elements (pge) and gold exploration, said previous and recent studies show that most of the occurrences have pge mineralisation content.
More than 11 chromite occurrences are recognised at Caribou, including American Chrome Junior, which displays four grams-per-ton of platinum, palladium and rhodium over five metres.
