Elvis' platinum ring set for auction 1st December 2006
A platinum and diamond wedding ring from Elvis Presley's marriage to Priscilla is to go under the hammer at an online auction in December.
The platinum wedding band belonged to 'the King' and was worn by him when he and Priscilla got married in Las Vegas in 1967.
It is just one of the many amazing items going under the hammer at the auction on December 14th and 15th, which is being held by Joseph Maddalena and his internationally-renowned Profiles in History, with a wide array of film and music memorabilia up for grabs.
The platinum ring is expected to fetch as much as £75,000 at the auction.
Mr Maddalena has described the ring, which was unveiled by Elvis at The Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas on May 1st 1967, as "a true piece of pop culture history".
Platinum has become an increasingly popular choice of jewellery in recent years and a vast range of celebrities are now often seen wearing items crafted from platinum, but in 1967 it demonstrated the vast opulence of the wedding due to the fact that platinum rings were far less available than they are today.
