Eland Platinum celebrates first production 8th October 2007
Eland Platinum has announced that its Elandsfontein project near Brits has begun production.
The firm is celebrating the start of production at the new site, which has been achieved on time and without a disabling injury, the platinum junior revealed.
It added that the first concentrates taken from the Elandsfontein project will be taken to Anglo Platinum. From whom it bought the mine two years ago, later this month.
"Among the key factors critical to the start of the concentrator's commissioning on schedule were the supply of electricity and water," Eland Platinum explained.
Eland Platinum Managing Director David Salter welcomed this latest milestone for Eland Platinum, commented: Every chapter so far has been completed on schedule - from seed capital-raising to JSE listing; from the acquisition of a new order prospecting right to the completion of exploration drilling; from the granting of our mining right to the first blast to start open pit mining; from the placement of orders for long-lead items to commissioning of the concentrator."
He concluded that the company is "very proud" of the project and to have achieved the development "with an exemplary safety record, with over two million man-hours worked to date on site without a single lost-time injury".
