Eastern Platinum enjoyed a record-breaking third quarter of 2010 in terms of pgm production, it has been confirmed.

The company revealed that output at its Crocodile River Mine (CRM) in South Africa reached 37,798 oz, representing a year-on-year increase of 26 per cent.

A statement confirmed that the rise can largely be attributed to run-of-mine ore hoisted jumping by 22 per cent in comparison with Q2 and processed ore surging by 23 per cent.

In addition, the figures showed that concentrator recoveries increased to 81 per cent from 80 per cent in the June quarter and 78 per cent in the third quarter of 2009.

"CRM's record quarter was a result of our operations becoming more streamlined, as evidenced by increased tonnages and improved concentrator recoveries," said Chief Executive Ian Rozier.

"We look forward to further production increases, as well as production from Crocette, which we expect will come on stream and contribute ounces within the next 12 months."

Eastern Platinum is Canada's largest pgm producer and the sixth-largest company with platinum interests in South Africa.
