Dyesol announces ruthenium-based dye collaboration 5th May 2010
A leading developer of ruthenium-based dyes is on the verge of forming a collaboration to advance its position in the photovoltaic market, it has been confirmed.
Dyesol, which is at the forefront of commercialising dye solar cell (DSC) technology, has provisionally agreed a two-year partnership with a specialised team of experienced scientists from CSIRO.
Under the terms of the deal, which is likely to be finalised in the near future, Dyesol will manage the group of researchers as they attempt to create new intellectual property.
"This project is a further example of the effectiveness of Dyesol's commercialisation strategy," said Ross MacDiarmid, Chief Executive of Dyesol Australia.
"We look forward to partnering and consider this another milestone in the inexorable progress of DSC to the market place."
The deal will also see CSIRO purchase a Dyesol laboratory and make an investment in its partner via the AGP programme, plus in-kind contributions from Dyesol and CSIRO's Energy Transformed Flagship.
DSC technology generates energy through an electrochemical process, which is based around the capture of light through depositing nano-particulate titania, ruthenium dyes and an electrolyte between appropriate substrates.
