A US medical technology company has developed a more durable and flexible platinum-cured silicone tubing for use in peristaltic pumps.

The new APSPG pump-grade tubing from Pennsylvania-based AdvantaPure can be used in pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory and research and development environments and is claimed to offer far better performance than existing tubing in the face of repeated compression and release.

Manufactured from low-volatile-grade, platinum-cured silicone that complies with USP Class VI and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 standards, the tubing is able to handle temperatures up to 204.4 °C.

Meanwhile, the product's smooth surfaces ensure uniform liquid flow as well as resistance to build up of bacteria, thus ensuring that the pump consistently performs to the required standard and that it operates effictively for longer.

Furthermore, tests have shown that it does not impart any taste or odour to critical streams, while its translucent quality allows for visual contact with the flow.

The tubing is available in ten sizes or can be ordered according to individual specifications.
