Dubai prepares to host major jewellery event 24th November 2004

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is gearing up for a major jewellery show that will showcase some of the latest trends and innovations in platinum.

Organisers say they will be revamping the annual show, placing an emphasis on the trade visitor.

Beginning on December 6th, the show will run for four days and will aim to bolster the burgeoning Middle East jewellery market.

DWTC director general Helal Saeed Khalfan al Marri told AME Info: "IJD 2004, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year is decidedly more oriented to the trade visitor and buyer."

"Positioned as the definitive event to reach the growing Middle East market that is noted for its high spend and appetite for designer and branded jewellery, the show has proved increasingly attractive to jewellery manufacturers, traders and buyers from all over the world, a fact that is reflected in tremendous growth in space taken up and number of exhibitors."

A host of major industry names will be attending, drawing designers and industry representatives from countries including Belgium, Italy, Thailand, France, Germany and India.

Exhibits will include cut and uncut gemstones, with a range of platinum jewellery and watches on display.
