DaimlerChrysler marks fuel cell production milestone 5th January 2005
DaimlerChrysler has announced that it has reached its goal of 100 fuel cell vehicles.
All the fuel cell vehicles sold by DaimlerChrysler are now in customer hands or currently being prepped for use and include 60 Mercedes-Benz F-Cell passenger cars, three medium-duty Dodge fuel cell Sprinter Vans and 33 Mercedes-Benz Citaro fuel cell buses, constituting the largest fleet of fuel cell vehicles in the world.
"This is only the beginning of our efforts," said Mark Chernoby, vice president of advance vehicle engineering at DaimlerChrysler.
"Over 100 fuel cell vehicles generating data in different environments gives DaimlerChrysler a unique advantage."
DaimlerChrysler has formed partnerships with companies and government entities such as UPS, the Department of Energy, BP, Ford Motor Company, Ballard Power Systems and the EPA.
In the State of the Union address last year, US president George W Bush unveiled a revolutionary new hydrogen fuel plan, putting his weight and substantial funding behind the nascent technology.
