Chinese vehicle sales top three million 13th September 2004
Chinese vehicle sales have topped three million units since the start of the year, according to industry figures.
Just over 380,000 vehicles were sold during August bringing the total since January to 3.28 million, the China Association of Auto Manufacturers (CAAM) said.
Monthly output and sales stood at 375,200 units and 382,300 units for August - representing an increase of 5.97 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively over July.
This continued growth in the automobile sector comes as China's economy continues to boom.
Motor manufacturers were also buoyed by the removal of quotas on the import of parts.
These most recent figures suggest that China is well on course to top five million vehicle sales by the end of the year.
