Chevrolet prepares for clean diesel production 25th November 2005
Chevrolet is gearing up for the production of its new diesel engines at its South Korean powertrain facility.
The company will begin production at the new plant in March 2006, delivering the new engines for its European range of vehicles and the new technology will ensure that the diesel engines comply with European standards on emissions.
Currently being pilot produced, the engines are being rigorously tested to ensure that they meet the Euro IV standards.
Both versions of the new engines being produced at the facility will also have a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to ensure that the emissions produced by the vehicles will be as low as possible.
As countries continue to clamp down on the amount of emissions produced by vehicles, companies are increasingly looking to improve their own technologies to ensure their vehicles comply.
Chevrolet is aiming for the new engines to be on the road by the summer of next year and European countries are likely to see the benefit of such changes as they look to reduce their emissions in line with the Kyoto Protocol.
