Chevrolet awarded for Equinox fuel cell 28th January 2008
Chevrolet has been recognised by the Green Car Journal for its Equinox fuel cell.
The car maker received the Green Car Vision Award for the fuel cell at the Washington Auto Show.
Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of the Green Car Journal, said: "Powering a popular crossover model with a future fuel such as hydrogen, and doing so seamlessly with an efficient powerplant that creates no CO2 greenhouse gasses, is exemplary and Chevrolet should be commended for this."
Along with the fuel cell, GM's Project Driveway initiative has been aiming to raise awareness of fuel cell technology by letting members of the public test drive some of its 100-strong hydrogen-powered fleet.
Also up for the award were green models such as the BMW Hydrogen 7 and the Toyota Prius Plug-in-Hybrid.
"Zero-emission vehicles destined for our highways in the years ahead will take many forms, from small car platforms to large," Mr Cogan predicted.
