Charlize Theron is not used to being anything but the star attraction these days, so when her new film was launched recently it was no surprise to see her take to the red carpet adorned in platinum.

However, the star of Monster and The Cider House Rules arrived in New York earlier this month wearing a toned down pair of platinum earrings, demonstrating that the precious metal does not always have to be glitzy and large when worn by celebrities.

Theron was at the screening of her new film, East of Havana, in which she makes her debut behind the screen rather than in front of it.

As such, Theron clearly did not want to upstage her actors and therefore chose the demure, understated beauty of the platinum studs, reports Jewelry Weblog.
