Celebrities opt for platinum at Golden Globe awards 28th January 2004
The popularity of platinum looks set to continue as A-list celebrities attending the 61st Annual Golden Globe Awards chose the precious metal to celebrate the night.
Movie and TV stars adorned themselves in the latest platinum trends as celebrity stylists were given the chance to select from over $6 million dollars worth of jewellery from the Platinum Guild International and InStyle magazine luxury range.
Platinum drop earrings, right hand rings, layered necklaces, diamonds and large coloured gemstones were all on display as stars paraded themselves on the red carpet.
Jewellery designer Neil Lane decked out Golden Globe winner Charlize Theron in platinum and diamond bracelets, while Jennifer Garner sported platinum and diamond cuff bracelets.
Mr Lane, who specialises in platinum, explained he adores the metal for its 'elegance, purity and romance'.
Meanwhile, jewellery house Harry Winston provided Golden Globe nominee Kim Cattrall with platinum and diamond cluster earrings and stackable bracelets.
Presenter Melanie Griffith also opted for a Harry Winston design, showing off a pair of platinum and diamond stiletto earrings.
Actress Helen Hunt also rounded off her look with a Harry Winston platinum and diamond oval line bracelet, and vintage platinum and diamond brooch.
Jennifer Aniston was also outfitted in platinum and diamond drop earrings and a stack of platinum and diamond line bracelets from celebrity designer Martin Katz.
Other stars to sport the latest platinum fashions at the awards ceremony included Uma Thurman and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The trend among the top stars for the metal suggests that platinum remains en vogue in the fashion industry, with consumers likely to follow their lead.
