Actress and model Carmen Electra has become the latest high profile figure to select platinum as her precious metal of choice.

Attending an awards show in Las Vegas last week, Carmen appeared in 950 Platinum jewellery by Neil Lane.

She not only wore a rare platinum and diamond long chain necklace, but also accessorised it with a pair of platinum and diamond drop earrings.

The star wore the platinum set while attending the 2006 VSDA Awards, aimed at the DVD video industry.

Other stylish celebrities who have been spotted in platinum include Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, and Reese Witherspoon.

This year's Oscars also saw a number of stars wearing platinum.

Madonna's ensemble alone from Neil Lane included platinum and ten-carat diamond earrings, three platinum and diamond chains, a platinum and 100-carat mesh cuff bracelet, as well as a series of bangles and rings worth more than £10 million in total.

Former Academy winner Charlize Theron wore four platinum and diamond cuff bracelets, platinum, diamond and emerald earrings and a matching cocktail ring also by Neil Lane.
