Sin City star Brittany Murphy and British writer and film director Simon Monjack opted to marry in style with two platinum wedding rings.

Visiting high-end jewellers Neil Lane in Los Angeles, the couple decided on two platinum rings, one featuring a yellow diamond festooned by white diamonds, while the other incorporates diamonds in the band, which surround a central cushion-cut diamond.

Mr Lane said: "They couldn't decide on one, so they got them both. Simon told me, 'You know, you only live once'. He did it with a lot of love and sentiment. I've never had that happen to me before. It's so romantic."

After marrying at an intimate ceremony at their shared home, the pair showed off the rings at this year's Kentucky Derby.

Ms Murphy, who had previously stepped out with Ashton Kusher, is set to appear in a series of films this year including Sin City 2, Tinker Bell and The Ramen Girl.

Meanwhile, The White Hotel, which Mr Monjack adapted from the DM Thomas novel about Sigmund Freud, is set to go into production soon.
