Brighton to London fuel cell rally 23rd August 2006
Revolve Global, a British champion of emissions-reducing transport technology, is staging an inaugural zero-emission rally along the famous Brighton to London route, during European Mobility Week.
Designed to place hydrogen fuel cell technology in the limelight, the rally will mark Car Free Day on September 22nd with a 53-mile race from Madeira Drive in Brighton to Trafalgar Square in London, Fuel Cell Today reports.
After a celebrity launch from Brighton in the morning, the cars will be joined by a Mercedes fuel cell bus in Croydon and continue in convoy to the capital, where Mayor Ken Livingstone will greet the drivers.
Members of the public and press will have a chance to view and drive the vehicles at Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park after the rally, as well as have questions answered by representatives of the leading proponents of sustainable motoring.
"The Revolve Brighton to London rally is perhaps the most public demonstration of low and zero-emission vehicles ever to be held in the UK," said Steven Glaser, director of Revolve Global, an organisation dedicated to combating the effects of global warming from vehicles.
"Public access to the cars in London and Brighton, combined with significant media coverage, will ensure that a positive message will go out - sustainable motoring is firmly on its way."
