Boston Scientific to present platinum chromium stent test results 16th September 2010
Boston Scientific has announced plans to present clinical data on its two platinum chromium coronary stent systems next week.
The company will be in Washington between 21st and 25th September for the Cardiovascular Research Foundation's Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics scientific symposium.
Details of research involving the PROMUS Element and TAXUS Element platforms from across Europe and other international markets will be aired at the event.
Keith Dawkins, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Boston Scientific's cardiology, rhythm and vascular group, said the firm is eager to gain approval for the systems in the US.
"We look forward to the presentation of data from the PLATINUM QCA trial and the PERSEUS clinical programme, which support the performance of our two platinum chromium drug-eluting stent platforms," he said.
"Our PROMUS Element Everolimus-Eluting Stent System and TAXUS Element Paclitaxel-Eluting Stent System continue to be well received by European physicians."
The PROMUS Element stent clinical and angiographic outcomes will be presented on 21st September, with the TAXUS Element stent diabetic study being addressed on the following day.
Tests involving the PROMUS and TAXUS Express stents will then be discussed on 23rd September, with all the events taking place at the Walter E Washington Convention Center.
Boston Scientific recently acquired long-time competitor Guidant for about $27 billion, splitting the company with Abbott Laboratories.
