Birmingham Assay Office develops website 14th September 2006
The Birmingham Assay Office has upgraded its website in an effort to keep up with the increased demand.
As part of its moves to maintain the service it offers to visitors to the website, the office has relaunched the site to give industry experts, students, and consumers a better explanation and understanding of its statutory work.
The new website includes a hallmarking section which explains the role the office has to play and also details the hallmarking of platinum, gold and silver, along with its laser marking process.
Michael Allchin, chief executive of the office, told Diamonds.net that the new website is needed to keep up with demand, given the increasing demand from customers.
Mr Allchin explained: "The Birmingham Assay Office is the largest Assay Office in the world... In addition to its statutory hallmarking duties the Birmingham Assay Office also offers a wide range of services, including diamond certification, precious metal analysis, nickel testing, and jewellery valuations."
