Ballard pins fuel cell hopes on Clinton 2nd November 2007
Ballard Power Systems is working with former US President Bill Clinton in an effort to boost interest in fuel cell technology.
The company has been working with Mr Clinton over the past eight months and together they have been looking to develop an initiative aimed at improving take-up of fuel cell technologies around the world.
"Bill Clinton has a reputation globally and is really trying to do something sincere for the climate, so you can't lose," commented Paul Cass, the director of Ballard's bus market segment.
Speaking to Canada's Financial Post, Mr Cass added: "It's a good opportunity. What this really does is it tends to grow the market."
Mr Clinton has already worked on a number of initiatives since leaving office with some success and the former President is now throwing his weight behind the fuel cell cause in an effort to get more companies to invest in fuel cell technology.
It is understood that the scheme being planned by Ballard will use both market forces and Mr Clinton's presence as a powerful moral backer to encourage more businesses to use fuel cells.
