Ballard announces new fuel cell supply agreement 17th October 2007
The Emerald from Voller Energy uses the very latest fuel cell technology to offer the same effective performance as a typical 5kVA diesel generator. As well as power, Emerald also provides hot water and space-heating and can even support an air conditioning system.
Ballard Power Systems has signed a new deal with Voller Energy Group to supply it with fuel cell stacks.
Voller will receive Ballard Mark1030 fuel cell stacks to be integrated into its one kilowatt auxiliary power units for the leisure, marine and construction markets.
"The Mark1030 already has several years of proven performance in Japanese residential cogeneration systems and so we are delighted to see it employed in exciting new applications," commented Noordin Nanji, Chief Customer Officer at Ballard.
"While volumes will be small initially, the potential of these markets makes this a valuable opportunity to evaluate the role that fuel cell technology can play in APU markets."
The fuel cell stacks will be at the heart of Voller's Emerald fuel cell generator, which is considered ideal for supplying either 12 volt or 24 volt power on boats and other recreational vehicles.
"The Ballard Mark1030, designed to operate on hydrogen derived from reformed fuels, offers a well verified fuel cell solution for the Voller Emerald," Voller Chief Executive, Stephen Voller, concluded.
