Azerbaijan's National Bank issues platinum coins 16th December 2004

The National Bank of Azerbaijan has issued a series of platinum coins as it marks the passing of the country's former leader Heydar Aliyev.

A total of 100 platinum coins will be produced, showing his image and an inscription of his name, according to Azer News.

On the other side of the coin is a map of Azerbaijan, and is designed as a symbol of "Azerbaijan's independence".

Other precious metals coins will also be issued, including 1,000 gold tokens and 2,000 silver items.

The sale price of a platinum coin is €1,467, while the gold coin is €527.

Investors and collectors can snap up the coins from the National Bank and its regional outlets.
