Finally, in the UK, new car registrations increased by 57 per cent on a year-on-year basis during November as consumers continued to respond to the government's scrappage scheme.

"The increase in new car registrations in November reflects the positive impact of the scrappage incentive scheme, customers avoiding the VAT increase in January and the very difficult conditions that we experienced a year ago," said Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
