Aquarius Platinum director announces resignation 12th March 2007

Aquarius Platinum Director Patrick Quirk has resigned from his position to pursue personal business interests, according to a company statement.

Mr Quirk's resignation was active from March 9th, but the company has not yet announced if he will be replaced on the board of directors.

He had joined the Australian mining giant in 2002 when Aquarius acquired a 50 per cent stake in the Mimosa platinum mine in Zimbabwe.

During his career in mining and metals, Mr Quirk has overseen operations in South Africa, Switzerland, the UK and Monaco and was part of the consortium that had initially purchased the Mimosa mine from Union Carbide in 1993.

Mr Quirk is currently a Director with the nickel mining company Tati Nickel which operates the Phoenix open pit mine and Selkirk underground mine in Botswana.

Aquarius recently announced that it expected its combined output of platinum group metals and gold to exceed 700,000 oz over the next three years - a rise of 50 per cent.
