Aquarius Platinum revealed yesterday (30th July) that it has completed its takeover of Ridge Mining.

The deal had hinged on the completion of the scheme of arrangement relating to the recommended all-share acquisition, which accounts for 32.7 per cent of Ridge's issued shared capital.

However, the transaction has now been finalised and Aquarius CEO Stuart Murray explained that he is thrilled to be able to add to the company's pgm portfolio.

"I am delighted that we have now concluded the transaction with Ridge," he said.

"In the Aquarius portfolio, the Blue Ridge Mine and Sheba's Ridge Project will benefit from our experience and skills, and provide both production growth and optionality for the enlarged group as a whole."

Mr Murray also expressed his gratitude for the coordination of Ridge's shareholders throughout the deal and said he hopes they are "excited about our future opportunities".

Meanwhile, Aquarius has announced today that its attributable pgm production for the fourth quarter of the 2009 financial year increased by one per cent to 98,258 oz.

"Operationally our mines performed well, with an increase in attributable production despite the shortfall in production shifts due to public holidays," said Mr Murray.

"Further, it is particularly pleasing to see the completion of the Wedza Phase 5.5 expansion project at Mimosa in Zimbabwe and the near-completion now of the expansion at Platinum Mile."

Aquarius is the world's fourth-largest producer of platinum and attained pgm output of 500,203 oz 4E (platinum, palladium, rhodium and gold) for the 2008 financial year.
