Aquarius on track to meet pgm target 23rd March 2005
Platinum producer Aquarius has said that it remains on track to meet its pgm target for its Kroondal project in South Africa.
The company said its annual production target of 505,000 ounces per year was looking achievable after the successful commissioning of the concentrator plant.
The new concentrator with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes per month was constructed in record time and has been fully commissioned three months ahead of schedule and within budget, the company said.
"With the commissioning of the concentrator plant we have successfully completed one of the largest components of the project, and are firmly on track to effectively double Kroondal's concentrating capacity and production to 505,000 pgm ounces a year," Stuart Murray, Aquarius Platinum CEO.
"Along with the Everest Mine, which is under construction, these two projects are key to delivering strong growth and a superior production profile for Aquarius."
Aquarius said production from the new concentrator is expected to increase to a steady state level by June this year, effectively doubling Aquarius' attributable pgm ounces out of the expanded Kroondal.
