Aquarius making headway at Kroondal site 22nd February 2005

Aquarius Platinum says it is planning to move ahead of schedule with its new concentrator at the Kroondal platinum site.

The pgm firm will commission the concentrator three months quicker than anticipated, building on its pooling-and-sharing agreement with Anglo Platinum.

Mining Weekly reports that the concentrator will provide a major boost for the Kroondal mine's productivity, doubling the potential output.

When up and running the concentrator will be capable of producing 250,000 ounces of pgms per year.

Reports also suggest that exploration is continuing apace, with the Kroondal underground site already completing 1,020 metres of "down-dip development".
