Aniston's Oscar platinum necklace on show 8th May 2006

A platinum necklace dating back to the 1930s and worn by US actress Jennifer Aniston at this year's Oscars is to be exhibited in boutiques around the world.

The diamond-encrusted necklace made by Bulgari is usually housed in Rome's Via Condotti, but is to go on a special tour to help create interest in the jeweller's work.

The Bulgari boutique in Chicago is the latest destination for the vintage platinum necklace, which will appear among other items.

A Bulgari collar worn by UK actress Kiera Knightly at the Oscars will also be part of the display. It was originally made for the shah of Iran.

Platinum has recently been the metal of choice for high profile figures the world over, with a prominent Indian actress also choosing a platinum item as a gift to a temple.

Manorama, an actress who has appeared in well over 1,000 films in India, presented the 20g platinum figurine of the Hindu god Lord Ganesha to the Vadapalani Murugan temple last month.
