Angloplats in new joint venture 24th July 2003
Anglo American Platinum Corporation Limited (Angloplats) has announced a joint project with Khumama Platinum (Proprietary) limited.
Both companies will have a 50 per cent interest in the scheme to develop the Booysendal platinum project on the Eastern Limb of the Bushveld Complex near Johannesburg.
Khumama has been granted the mining rights for the programme, and will represent Angloplats' partner under the terms of South Africa's Black Economic Empowerment Policy.
Chaired by Nomazizi Mtshotshisa, Khumama Platinum consists of three broad-based empowerment consortia which are led by Ms Mtshotshisa, Dr Paseka Ncholo and Robinson Ramaite.
The plans have already been approved by the Department of Minerals and Energy, and will be finalised when necessary further authorisation and board approvals have been obtained.
The deal also remains subject to a number of standard regulatory, statutory consents.
