Angloplat offers seven per cent wage increase 10th September 2004
Angloplat has reportedly tabled a 7 per cent wage increase offer amid discussions with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).
Yesterday it emerged that the platinum producer had offered a 6.8 per cent increase that had been turned down, but with talks continuing the new offer is on the table.
A union member told Mineweb that the new offer was made in meetings in Rustenburg, with further negotiations now expected.
"They have offered 7 per cent, previously it was 4.7 per cent, and before that 4.4 per cent," the union member who attended the meeting mediated by the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) said.
Angloplat spokesman Mike Mtakati said that the two parties were still in discussion, with the final outcome yet to be decided.
It was a sentiment being echoed by Archie Palane, NUM deputy secretary-general, who said that the meetings were still being played out.
"We are still discussing," he commented.
