Anglo American and DME to make joint platinum mine rights statement 11th April 2008
Anglo American and the Department of Minerals and Energy will make a joint announcement later this month that all the firm's mining rights have been converted to the new order.
A spokesperson for the platinum firm said that the mining permits were expected within the next two and a half weeks.
"Anglo and the Department of Minerals and Energy have been working tirelessly, day and night and over weekends, to complete this very complex process," Pranill Ramchander, the firm's spokesperson told Business Report.
He said the amount of paper work and documentation was "enormous" and he anticipated a joint announcement as soon as the "documentation is finalised".
"There have not been any administrative areas that Anglo has had to gear up in order for the conversions to take place," he added.
The Government refused to comment on the position of Anglo American's application.
The application for the permits had stalled following a disagreement with the South African Government.
