Alcosense launches platinum electrochemical breathalyser 28th January 2011
The UK's first wall-mounted breathalyser, which employs a platinum electrochemical sensor to tell drivers if they are over the legal limit, has been brought to market.
AlcoSense WM1, created by AlcoSense and RLMS Sales, is a coin-operated device designed to be used in pubs and clubs to help motorists make the right decision about whether they should get behind the wheel.
Featuring a seven-inch LCD screen and operated by a £1 coin, the device uses an advanced platinum electrochemical sensor providing accuracy on a par with breathalysers used by police forces.
"Wall mounted breathalysers are a common sight in America, Scandinavia and Australia … and have been proven to reduce drink driving instances and increase awareness of alcohol consumption in the users," said Hunter Abbott, managing director of AlcoSense.
Last month, the company said three-quarters of people are worried that drink driving could increase after police budget cuts were announced in the latest spending review.
