A new $100,000 suit launched yesterday (22nd April) which features platinum and gold threads has been labelled as the world's most expensive by its designer, ABC News reports.

The suit, named after creator Alexander Amosu, boasts rare silks and a combination of Himalayan Pashmina, Qiviuk and Vicuna, while also containing nine 18-carat gold and pave-set diamonds.

Commenting on the new item, Mr Amosu explained that he wanted to offer something "exclusive, limited, luxurious, impressive and outstanding" for those willing to splash out.

He told the news provider: "Whatever I do I have to do ten times better than anyone else. I'm trying to build a luxury brand that people know about.

"To compete with the likes of Gucci you have to produce not just the 'world's most expensive' but something so exclusive that you are the only one who makes it."

Mr Amosu also revealed that he will travel anywhere in the world with his team of tailors to undertake a two-day process of measurements and fitting for potential buyers.

The suit is being produced in partnership with renowned fabric firm Dormeuil, whose Commercial Director Frederic Dormeuil added: "It is very nice to be a part of this. It is a very unique product."

According to ABC News, 75 per cent of the fabric used is produced in England and the spinning and weaving - each suit uses 5,000 individual stitches - will take place at Dormeuil's mill in Yorkshire.

Mr Amosu expressed his belief that there is "very much a market" for the suit despite the recession and revealed that a "private buyer" has already purchased one.
