16th ETH Conference on Combustion Generated Nanoparticles 24th June 2012 to 27th June 2012

The ETH Conference on Combustion Generated Nanoparticles provides an interdisciplinary
forum for expert discussion in the field of combustion-generated nanoparticles, technical
aspects as well as environmental impact, health effects and legislation. The conference addresses
characterization methods of nanoparticles for research, type-approval, manufacturing
control, in-use compliance testing and progresses of internal and external emission
control of internal combustion engines and other combustion technologies.

Conference Topics:

  • Formation of nanoparticles in technical combustion
  • Nanoparticles <23 nm
  • Chemical composition of emitted nanoparticles
  • Formation of secondary emissions
  • Translocation and transformation processes of particles in the atmosphere
  • Strategies to minimize particle formation during combustion processes
  • After-treatment technologies - performance, applicability, effectiveness
  • Instrumentation and calibration for measuring solid and volatile nanoparticles
  • PEMS and OBD-sensors for nanoparticle emission monitoring
  • Impact of black carbon nanoparticles on global warming
  • Health effects due to combustion generated nanoparticles
  • Legislation and enforcement
